FoodeApp

Validation

We have conducted a study to validate the use of the FoodEapp, an automated dietary assessment tool, by comparing it with conventional, nutritionist-administered 24-hour dietary recalls. We validated the FoodEapp on Adults aged 18-70 from urban and rural Karachi. We found that the mean differences in total nutrient intake captured by both methods were consistent with the findings reported in other studies.

Our research has discovered a strong correlation between the data gathered through the FoodEapp and the conventional 24-hour dietary recalls for all the essential nutrients, including total energy (kcal), protein (g), total lipids (g), carbohydrates (g), iron (mg), calcium (mg), and vitamin C (mg). The correlation between FoodEapp and the conventional 24-hour dietary recall tool was found to be between 66-81%.
